Our story

Rocky Point’s story started, and continues to this very day, on the land.
We’ve spent over 20 years developing and refining growing media and mulches to make success easier for home gardeners and those who make their livelihood working the land and growing things.

We’re confident our growth will continue because every day we strive to develop and refine the very best garden products money can buy!

Our History

We employ around 90-100 people in Southeast Queensland with contractors working to supply from all over the east coast of Australia. Our home garden range products are available nationally around Australia in retail stores. Our customer base is professional growers in horticulture, corporate and independent retailers in the home garden and produce space, landscapers, and farmers in agriculture. Our goal is to achieve the highest level of customer and employee satisfaction and loyalty in the industry.

With two large-scale, state-of-the-art facilities strategically located in Queensland, we offer unmatched capability in manufacturing, processing, and delivering premium potting media and landscape supplies.

Across both Basset Barks and Rocky Point, we’ve spent a combined 60+ years developing and refining growing media and mulches to make success easier for home gardeners and those who make their livelihood working the land and growing things.

Basset Barks

A 100-acre site with extensive production capacity, Basset Barks is located at the foot of the Glass House Mountains.

The Sunshine Coast site has been setting the standard in high-quality bark and potting media for over 40 years. As one of Australia’s largest manufacturing sites

Bassett Barks are committed to supporting customer needs as well as environmental sustainability All bark products processed at our Sunshine Coast facility are crafted from 100% PEFC Australian plantation timbers and recycled materials using the latest processing technologies to ensure premium quality.

Recycling

Rocky Point works collaboratively with a diverse range of industries to minimise landfill, a growing threat to the environment here in Australia and beyond.

By recycling industrial by-products such as waste timber into “better earth garden products” Rocky Point is minimising waste and nurturing our natural environment.

Rocky Point’s on-site soft plastic recycling and a pledge to have 45% of our packaging made from recycled plastics, is another simple yet important contribution to sustainability.

Quality

Rocky Point is committed to exceeding the highest quality standards for growing media and mulch in Australia. Rocky Points’ products and processes meet the requirements for the following certifications; ISO9001 accredited Quality Management System, ISO 14004 Environmental Management System, Australian Certified Organic (allowed input), Australian Standards AS3743, AS4419 and AS4454, BioSecure HACCP, NIASA and NIASA EcoHort.

Rocky Points’ processes contain multiple quality control steps to ensure the products are:

  • Inspected on entry and dispatch
  • Checked and rechecked for quality during the production and packing process
  • Formulated to produce healthy robust plants
  • Formulated to provide long-term optimal growing conditions
  • Regularly tested to ensure they are free of contaminants, pathogens, pests and weeds and meet Australian Standards (where applicable)
