Andresen’s RP HydroGro Grow Trial.

HydroGro_woodfibre

RP Hydrogro Trial aim / objective:

To eliminate the continual change in availability and fluctuating costs associated with imported products such as coir. The other objective was to assure consistent, efficient and healthy growth across the board.

Trial commenced: November 30th 2023

Trial completed: April 9th 2024

Plant species: Golden Cane Palms

Testimonial:

Andreasen’s has been in partnership with Rocky Point for nine years now and we were more than happy to take this opportunity to collaborate on wood fibre – a local, sustainable and more cost-effective growing media as a replacement for coir fibre. Over the course of two consecutive grow trials with different species, we found the RP Hydrogro wood fibre to not only be very reliable but produce excellent root growth, impressive water-holding capacity and lush foliage. The media showed that at a minimum it was ‘more than’ an acceptable replacement for coir fibre.

Proven results and the bonus of using a local and more cost–effective material has led to our nursery making the change from coir fibre to wood fibre. We’re thankful for the opportunity to work with Rocky Point who continue to develop and implement innovative and sustainable products for our ever–evolving industry.
