Nursery RP Hydrogro trial

HydroGro_plant roots

Aim / Objective:

With peat moss supply reduced worldwide due to environmental decisions. Almere welcome the opportunity to work with Rocky Point to replace Peat Moss with a more local sustainable consistent resource

Trial commenced: November 30th 2023

Trial completed: April 9th 2024

Plant species: Anthuriums and Spathiphyllums

Testimonial:

Rocky Point tested a replacement for 25% of the peat moss in the existing base mix, using Rocky Point’s wood fibre, RP Hydrogro. The goal was to demonstrate that wood fibre could be a comparable alternative, achieving equal or better growth results than peat moss.

We were highly satisfied with the results of the trials. RP Hydrogro met our expectations in terms of growth and stock turnover. We observed strong root development and lush foliage that maintained colour effectively.

An additional advantage of Rocky Point’s HydroGro is its local, sustainable production at a more competitive price.

Our Nursery views this as not only part of our future but a step forward for the nursery industry as a whole.
