Putting Polyon to the test

What our 9-month CRF grow trial means for wholesale nurseries

At Rocky Point, we don’t put a product in front of our wholesale customers until we’ve proven it works under real growing conditions. That’s the thinking behind our latest grow trial, an eleven-month assessment of Polyon 9-Month Controlled Release Fertiliser run across commercial nursery sites in Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

For nursery growers, a fertiliser is only as good as the plants it produces at scale, month after month, across different potting mixes and climates. So rather than relying on the manufacturer’s specifications alone, we ran our own trial to see how Polyon performed in the conditions our customers actually grow in.

Polyon VS competitor fertiliser at end of 9 month trial

What the trial found

Over the eleven-month period, Polyon delivered strong plant growth, healthy green foliage and consistent quality across a range of commercial potting mixes. That consistency matters for wholesale growers, where uneven feeding shows up quickly as patchy growth or poor colour across a batch.

Polyon is formulated with a 27 degree temperature-controlled nutrient release, designed specifically for warmer Australian growing conditions. In our trial, this translated to reliable nutrition through the full growing season, and notably, continued nutrient release well beyond the advertised nine-month window.

Why this matters for your growing program

For nurseries and landscape businesses planning stock months in advance, a fertiliser that keeps performing past its advertised release period reduces the risk of late-season nutrient drop-off, one of the more common causes of a crop losing quality just before it’s ready to sell.

The trial also reinforced Polyon as a cost-effective and environmentally responsible option, delivering long-lasting nutrition without the need for repeated top-ups.

Backed by testing, not just specifications

This trial is one of an ongoing program of grow trials we run before products reach our wholesale customers. If a controlled release fertiliser is going to carry a nursery’s crop for the best part of a year, we want to know how it performs in Australian conditions before it’s recommended to you, not after.

The result

Our trial confirmed that Polyon 9-Month CRF delivers long-lasting nutrition and consistent plant performance, making it a reliable choice for professional growers who need results they can count on, batch after batch.

Polyon is available through Rocky Point in sizes ranging from 1kg tubs through to bulka bags, suited to everything from a single nursery block to large-scale production. To talk through what it could do for your growing program, get in touch with your Rocky Point wholesale representative.
